An overturned car on the Oak Street bridge (and subsequent backups all over the city) couldn’t keep me away from Argyle Secondary School, the venue hosting this special event. Part of the Friday Night Live series, this rare gathering of these four musicians was aptly named Local Legends of Rock.

Core members of Canadian bands Prism and Headpins jammed a lively set in what appeared to be a sold out and much appreciated performance.  Led by the seemingly unstoppable Al Harlow , the night was interlaced with stories, name dropping, a Q&A, and a raffle for a guitar signed by the night’s performers.

Al Harlow remarked at one point that Bryan Adams had attended this very school. He suggested to the audience that they should go find his old locker and dig out the copy of “Let Me Take You Dancing” likely hiding inside.

It’s been a long time since I’ve heard Prism tracks performed by a core of original members. I’ve remained a big fan of Prism since they started out, seeing almost every Victoria and Vancouver arena performance they did right up until the Young and Restless Tour. Wish I had been shooting then.

There was some great talent on display, a really good vibe in the room, and a lot of smiles on and off the stage. For the band, I just don’t think they could have had a better night. The applause and encores were well deserved.
